Winter 2015 Part 5

The 2016 Presidential Election

The 2016 Presidential election will have similarities and differences to the previous Presidential elections. A lot of it will be déjà vu all over again with the corporate funding and the two party capitalist, neo-liberal parties trying to get electoral votes. The Republican side has a lot of division on who will be the front runner. There is Rand Paul expressing his views and people like Rubio believing a reactionary, militarist message. Rand Paul has talked about criminal justice issues, the militarization of the police, and other matters that appeal to people beyond just Republicans. The catch is that his views on other issues are reactionary like his views on economics and on some social issues. Chris Christie, who has shown disrespectful language even against people trying to debate him in public, could run for President. There has been a lot of news about Jeb Bush. George W. Bush wants Jeb Bush to run for President, but his mother, Barbara Bush, doesn’t want Jeb to run. We know how the game is being played. We have to continue to think for ourselves and advocate for real revolutionary, structural change. I am opposed to the war on terror. I disagree with the War on Drugs. I am opposed to imperialism. Imperialism is known for its opposition to all progressive people’s struggles. The interests of the 1% are antithetical to the liberation of the masses of the people. Billionaires and corporations (which has been strengthen via the bad Supreme Court Citizen United decision) send money to both major parties as a means to carry out their agenda. A study says that from $4-6 trillion dollars go to the ongoing wars of Afghanistan and Iraq, yet nowhere near that amount is being spent to rebuild our cities, rebuild our rural communities, to improve our health care, to develop our educational systems, and to obliterate poverty. There is an attack on workers seeking to have a living wage is real.

People anticipate Hillary Clinton to run for President in the year of 2016. Her views are very similar to President Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton in essence has a militarist foreign policy mixed with a corporatist domestic policy. Back in 1969, when she was the Wellesley valedictorian, she supported Eugene McCarthy’s presidential run and studied the organizing tactics of Saul Alinksy. Now, we see a new generation. Hillary Clinton easily became Senator of New York. As Senator, she voted for military action against Afghanistan, she voted for the Patriot Act, and she voted for the Iraq War Resolution. The Bush-Cheney junta was so overtly corrupt, that she modified her views. She voted for the Obama administration’s troop surge in Afghanistan too. Wikileaks shown that she (like Condoleeza Rice before her) ordered U.S. diplomats to spy on United Nations officials including representatives of “friendly nations” and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. Ironically, Hillary Clinton criticized the Wikileaks document release as “an attack on the international community.” On many foreign policy issues from Russia to Syria, Hillary is to the right of President Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton has ideological similarities and differences to Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton’s actions are known. The Bill Clinton presidency established “free trade” agreements (which don’t promote real fair trade. What these agreements are all about is to allow Western corporations to offshore their production of goods and services sold in American markets. When you have the moving of production abroad, labor cost savings increase corporate profits and share prices. This will bring down capital gains to shareholders and send multi-million dollar performance bonuses to executives. The rewards to capital for the super wealthy are large, but the rewards come at the expense of US manufacturing workers and the tax base of cities and states), deregulated the financial system, use military attacks on many nations (like in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Somalia, etc.), and used deadly force against American civilians. Bill Clinton supported the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act. We have a system where two capitalist mainstream parties run the political show with Wall Street backing. Both of the major parties follow the agendas of the financial sector, the military/security complex, the Israeli Lobby Big Pharma, agribusiness, and the rest of the establishment. These same interests support financial bailouts while ignore how Monsanto harms the environment. Hillary Clinton was once the Secretary of State and now she is a private citizen. The neo-conservative extremists are promoting war against Russia too. Her popularity is extremely popular. If she runs for President, she could easily win the Democratic nomination if she goes unopposed.

We have to have hope too. We are breathing. We are thinking. We are living. We are alive. When we alive, we can do something. We can defend the poor and the oppressed. We can work in charities. We can allow our voices to be heard. We can support truly independent political movements that are dedicated in the establishment of real change. Nothing is going to turn us around. Freedom can never be won or exacted without struggle. We have to fight and struggle for our freedom, which we rightfully deserve. That is why I am living, writing these word,  and helping out my neighbors our in real life. We will continue on this life journey.

Conclusion

After over 400 years of oppression, we are still not free. We have won numerous battles, but we have not defeated injustice completely yet. That is why we have to keep on fighting for wisdom, truth, and honor. The recent news show us that solidarity and unity are important concept for us to embrace in our hearts. We need more unity as a people and as a community. The protesters across America and throughout the world want freedom and an end to police brutality. Brothers and Sisters have had enough. There is no excuse for police terrorism, for racial discrimination, and for economic injustice. Our ancestors are with us and the Creator is with us too. Regardless of the lies from Patrick Lynch, Bill O’Reilly, Rudy Giuliani, Bill Bratton, and others, cops killings are in a 50 year low in NYC and we see a decrease of the crime rates in America. The Brinsley’s killings (which were wrong. I send sympathies and prayers to the families of Liu, Ramos, and Thompson. I wish for Sister Shaneka Thompson to get better) have nothing to do with the protest movement. The protesters are in the right side of history, because Black lives Matter (many people among all colors have been protesting in the streets in support of the Black Lives Matter movement), human lives matters, and justice matters. We have a long way to go. This struggle for liberation will not be easy, but it is an important struggle to participate in. We can’t be spectators. We have to work and be active in the true cause of justice for black people in the Earth. We will never forget the killings of Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Aiyana Jones, and other black human beings. The families of these Brothers and Sisters are so brave and so strong. Also, there is nothing wrong with hope either. With hope, there is even more inspiration among us to struggle for constructive actions to exist. It is not just the Republicans (with their xenophobia, racism, and other extremism that are embraced by many of their most radical members) that should be blamed for many of the problems in America. Democrats deserve some blame as well for some of their members aiding the Pentagon funding of the militarization of the local police, for the neo-liberal economic agenda, for many of the reactionary “get tough on crime” criminal justice actions, etc. So, we should be politically independent if we want to be free indeed. Compassion for the poor, for the homeless, and for the oppressed is part of our agenda too. We have huge poverty and record economic inequality in America. There is no massive democratization of the wealth. Wages are stagnant. US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) data show over 600,000 homeless Americans on any given night including nearly 140,000 children. Over 57,000 veterans are homeless too. Food stamps provide a woefully inadequate $1.40 per person per meal. University of Michigan research shows wealth inequality doubled since 2003. America’s top 5% has 426.5 times the wealth of the bottom 25% households. I am opposed to the agenda of the corporate capitalist elite or the 1%. The movement continues.

The truth certainly is not bashing. That's accurate. The truth is that anti-black women misogyny is evil. The truth is that honorable people should be respected and black women's human dignity should be respected. What is an example bashing though is about some people placing black women collectively into one box. What is bashing is about how some are cursing women out and disrespecting black women in the most offensive ways possible (as done by white racist trolls and others in this forum and by others throughout the Internet). What is bashing is about some having narrow-minded, misogynistic views about women in general. These examples are bashing and I stand by my core convictions. Sisters are tired of racists and other individuals disrespecting their human dignity and the Sisters have every right to stand up for their humanity. Black men bashing is evil too (as black men should never be scapegoated for all of the evils in the world) and that must be totally condemned with vigor and zeal. Some of our people lie to themselves. That is true. Some lie to themselves and think that following 19th century Eurocentric thinking on gender is the way for liberation when both genders need respect, equality, and justice without exception. Some lie to themselves and deny all hope for the future when our ancestors suffered much worse than we do today. Ida B. Wells, Sojourner Truth, Ell Baker, and others never wanted black women to be placed as second class citizens. These strong Black Women wanted women to be free. Pessimism and misogyny will never solve all problems in the black community. Also, there is nothing with wrong true love either. There needs to be a diversified amount of actions established in order for us to solve the problems in our community.

We won’t stop because we can’t stop.

The truth is on our side and we will be victorious in the end.
